Aly Keita

Aly Keïta is an Ivorian balafon player and comes from a Malinké Griot family (which also produced the singer Salif Keïta). He studied the classical pentatonically tuned balafon with Zouratié Coulibaly in Mali. In 1986, he played jazz music for the first time with Georges Makinto. He subsequently developed a diatonic balafon, which he adapted to the requirements of western music.
