Okurut George

Okurut George aka B Boy Skater George is a dancer from Pader District, Uganda. He joined Northern Uganda Hip Hop Culture, which is a community-based organization and Hip-Hop movement found in Kitgum Northern Uganda where he got more mentorship on the basic leadership skills, and knowledge in 2012, he was one of the participants of the Northern Hip Hop Camp. He is a co-founder of Inspire Me Africa Initiative in 2015 and which hosts an annual Hip-hop event called Beyond the Beat event in Kitgum, Northern Uganda. He moved to Kampala in 2015 and began with discovering Yoga, Acroyoga, and Meditation.

His Journey as a Yoga, Acroyoga and Meditation teacher started in 2017 when he was with the group of street kids in Kitgum and in other slums around Uganda. In 2019, He co-founded Swing Dance Uganda in the year 2012 After practicing yoga for three years then in 2018, he got certified on 60hrs Children’s Yoga Teacher Training Course – Satyananda Tradition under Yoga Pura Vida in Tanzania. In 2019, he continued the journey of developing peace through joining World Peace Initiative and he participated in Amandla Youth Fellowship in Rwanda organized by Peace Revolution, from there he went ahead by achieving 300hr Yoga Teacher Training at Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana (Yoga University) in India and at the same yoga university, he got certified as Yoga Instructor for Diabetes Movement. So now Okurut George has reached out to an organization like 22 Stars Kids Foundation which he is an ambassador, New Hope Dance Project, Meeting Point Acoli Quarters Banda, Arc Charity Foundation in Jinja, Kisenyi Slum Yoga in Kisenyi behind Owino market, Starface Academy in Gulu, Heart of Dance Rhythm in Nsambya, and Ayiko Dance De Circus African Art Project in Kampala, Where he teaches community classes and guiding children in creating empowering ideas that investigate identity and community through a social justice framework.

In 2020, he won a gold medal at Best Male Yoga Contest Categories. Ever since then he has never looked back and worked with different Non-governmental organizations and community-based organizations during community outreach and sensitization programs.
