Christoph WinklerLe Roi David
Why do we compare ourselves to others? And how does competition affect coexistence? In search of the origins for rivalry, jealousy and violence, we turn to the biblical story of King David, set to music in 1921 by Swiss composer Arthur Honegger.
About the Piece
In its tenth concept-concert, the Berlin choir Cantus Domus will be performing this staged oratorio in an entirely new combination of rhythmic-explosive choir music and modern dance. In collaboration with choreographer Christoph Winkler and dancers Ahmed Soura and Aloalii Tapu, they will create a moving visualization of sound in a story about the ritual mechanisms that shape our human culture.
