Thaddi | De:Bug

In terms of depth and thoughtfulness, the new Main Street has only one serious contender this month, and that’s a small, white 7″ from Berlin with only guitar and drums. ‘Honigtier’ works with sublime percussion… trippy, repetitive, dream-looping. The guitar tells stories to this that seem suspiciously familiar, always broken, always spare. A friend of mine, who musically grew up in Chicago, so to speak, claims that this record is very Chicago. As far as I’m concerned… I have no problem with that. ‘Fensterkreuz’ then brutally reduces the tempo, creeps through the streets, peers cautiously around corners, sporadic hi-hats provide something like the rhythm, and the guitar tells of all the things you can see behind window crosses. Faces without names. And as we all know, they tell the best stories because they don’t contradict each other.
