This project imagines dance as a quantum event. Quantum culture, not science, is a way of thinking that makes contradictions, parallel worlds, and unresolved states feel plausible. A Faster-than-Light Sketch is a real-time drawing and choreographic system. An AI continuously completes images based on learned assumptions of visual coherence, responding in real time to my drawing gestures. This process can be interrupted through marks and movement, keeping forms open. Rather than explaining bias or norms in generative AI systems, the work makes their assumptions tangible. The system runs live, without correction or post-processing. It can fail. The audience experiences a tension between the machine’s drive to finish and the hesitation of human bodies. The project asks who decides when a form is complete, and what happens when completion is refused.
The project uses StreamDiffusionTD by DotSimulate as part of its real-time AI workflow.
