Face L Alarme
1997, Solo
about the piece
This piece is a collaboration with the video artist Asaf „Safy“ Etiel and tries to reflect on our relationship towards images of violence in the media. Images of war are mixed with depictions of violence from pop culture. These images are looped & scratched and combined with various choreographic parts. „Face L Alarme“ is the first full length production of Christoph Winkler.

reviews
"Suppose they gave a war – and nobody paid attention! When Berlin dancer Gundula Peuthert presented "Face l'alarme" at the 5th Plauen Ballet Days it fully drew the attention it deserved. The predominantly young audience enthusiastically accepted the experimental dance piece. 24 monitors showed scenes of deadly violence in an anonymous war and in sexual play. Two of the contemporary art scene’s big players – ‘Klangkrieg’ producer Christoph Winkler and video specialist Assaf Etiel – arranged the dance piece together, which was shown for the first and only time on Sunday. Bravo!"

"Face l’alarmé" is like a song about industrialized killing. The final perversion of the machine age spills into living rooms as an electronic wave – dissolved into the particles of evening entertainment for better digestibility. A gloomy vision with terrifying authenticity thanks to the video artist's Israeli background."
