Lisa Rykena

Lisa Rykena, born in Jever 1989, ís based in Hamburg.
Lisa studied classical and contemporary dance at the University of music and performing arts Frankfurt/Main and she is working as a freelance dancer, performer and choreographer. Lisa performed in pieces of William Forsythe, Marina Abramovic, Zufit Simon and Allora & Calzadilla.
The main focus in her dance style is the transformation to hybrid identities, shapeshifting through past and future characters and imagined environments as well as the interaction between voice and body. Lisa is a member of the choreographic and artistic duo RykenaJüngst which produces own works since 2019 in coproduction with Kampnagel Hamburg and HochX theatre Munich (SHE LEGEND 2019/2021, ROSE LA ROSE 2021, SENSE OF WONDER 2022/2023).
In collaboration with sighted, blind and visually impaired artists and activists, Lisa researches collectively on audiodescription in dance, explores different ways how to describe dance through words and sounds and make it more accessible.
